When to come

Seasons and getting here.

Guanacaste has the longest dry season in Costa Rica, and the green season has its own rewards.

The seasons

Dry season · mid-December to April
Sunny, dry and the busiest time of year. Christmas, New Year and Easter book up first, so ask early for those weeks.
Green season · May to November
Mornings are usually bright, with rain more often in the afternoon or evening, and everything turns green. September and October are the wettest; May and late November are a good middle ground.

Getting here

Fly into Liberia (LIR)
Daniel Oduber Quirós International Airport is about an hour away by car. Pickup is included for up to 8 guests; for a bigger group we add a second vehicle.
Getting around
Hacienda Pinilla is spread out, and the beaches, the club and the restaurants are a drive apart, so most guests use a car or private transport, which our concierge can arrange.

Where to stay

Two villas, both inside the gate.

Before you ask

Questions about Hacienda Pinilla.

Where is Hacienda Pinilla?

On the Pacific coast of Guanacaste, in north-west Costa Rica, about 20 minutes from Tamarindo and about an hour by car from Liberia’s international airport (LIR).

Which beaches are in Hacienda Pinilla?

Three: Playa Avellanas, known for its surf and home of the Beach Club; Playa Langosta, a Blue Flag beach; and Playa Mansita, with rock outcroppings at low tide.

Is Hacienda Pinilla good for families?

Yes. It’s a gated community with beaches, a beach club with an infinity pool, horseback riding, tennis and trails, so there’s something for every age. Both of our villas are set up for multigenerational groups.

When is the best time to visit?

Mid-December to April is the dry season: the sunniest and busiest months. May to November is the green season, with more afternoon rain and fewer people; September and October are the wettest.
